What are the native grape varieties of Languedoc?
The Languedoc is rich in native grape varieties, which give wines a unique identity. Key grape varieties include:
- For reds: Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Cinsault.
- For whites: Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Piquepoul, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne.
These varieties are at the heart of many Languedoc wines and those from AOP Saint-Chinian.
